About the Author

Starry Joyce is the author of Kyla and the School She Saved: An Autism Superpower Mystery. In addition to writing, she enjoys singing, directing plays, creating youth programs, styling hair, preparing taxes, organizing community events, and finding creative ways to inspire and empower others.

A lifelong advocate for children and families, Starry has dedicated more than 15 years to serving her community through education, youth development, leadership, and mentorship. Her career has included working as a school secretary, owning and operating a successful daycare, serving as the Assistant Director of a girls' summer camp, and supporting students and families in educational settings. She has also directed children's plays and performances, organized special events, coordinated field trips, secured community partnerships, and created opportunities that help young people build confidence and discover their unique gifts.

Creativity has always been at the center of Starry's life. Whether she is writing stories, singing, styling hair, directing productions, preparing taxes, or planning programs that bring people together, she believes every talent can be used to make a difference. Her passion for helping others shines through everything she creates.

Inspired by children who experience and understand the world in unique ways, Starry created Kyla to remind readers that being different is not something to hide—it is something to celebrate. Through Kyla's adventures, she hopes children will recognize their own strengths, families will see the beauty in different perspectives, and communities will learn that everyone has something valuable to contribute.

When she's not writing, Starry enjoys spending time with her family, developing new community projects, encouraging young entrepreneurs, and dreaming up new adventures for Kyla. She believes that kindness, courage, creativity, and believing in yourself can change lives—and sometimes, even save a school.
